🩵 SCALLOP SEASON MAY BE CLOSED — BUT YOUR GULF COUNTY ADVENTURE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE! 🌊☀️

08/17/2026

We know today’s announcement that the 2026 Gulf County Bay Scallop Season has been closed can be disappointing news for some visitors, local businesses and others who looks forward to this special time of year.

For some families, scalloping may have been one of the main reasons for an upcoming trip. And with the season scheduled to begin in just a few days, many visitors already have vacation rentals booked, plans made and bags nearly packed.

If that’s you, we hope you’ll still come. ❤️

🌊 GET OUT ON THE WATER

Book one of our many local charter captains and spend the day fishing St. Joseph Bay or the Gulf. Depending on the charter, adventures may include:

🎣 Inshore Fishing

🎣 Offshore Fishing

🦈 Shark Fishing

🐬 Dolphin Cruises

🌅 Sunset Cruises

🐊 Alligator Tours

🤿 Snorkeling & Eco Tours

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Kids’ Fishing & Trolling Trips

DON'T WANT A CAPTAIN?

🚤 Rent a pontoon boat and explore St. Joseph Bay.

🛶 Rent a kayak or paddle out from one of our local launches.

🏄‍♂️ Rent a Jet Ski or try parasailing.

🎣 Bring your own boat and use one of the many public boat ramps throughout Gulf County and Mexico Beach.

🏖️ MAKE IT A BEACH DAY

Spend the day along the beaches of:

📍 30E Cape San Blas, FL

🌲 EXPLORE BEYOND THE BEACH

Take a drive through Gulf County and discover an entirely different side of our area.

Explore the natural beauty of St. Joseph Bay, visit T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park or William J. "Billy Joe" Rish Recreation Area, discover the waterways and forests surrounding Wewahitchka and the Dead Lakes, enjoy the local parks, take an eco tour, go horseback riding on the beach, watch dolphins, go shelling, experience a waterfront sunrise or sunset, or simply slow down and enjoy the scenery.

🍤 AND COME HUNGRY!

Turn your vacation into a culinary adventure.

From 30E Cape San Blas, FL and Indian Pass to Port St. Joe, WindMark Beach, St. Joe Beach, Wewahitchka and Mexico Beach, our area is filled with locally owned restaurants, seafood spots, oyster bars, cafés, coffee shops, bakeries, ice cream shops, and food trucks.

🍤 Have Gulf seafood for lunch or dinner.

🍦 Cool off with an ice cream.

🛍️ Explore the shops.

🌅 Then finish your evening watching one of our incredible Gulf Coast sunsets.
